چکیده

(1) Background: Celiac disease (CD) can cause long-term inflammation and endothelial dysfunction has been cited as a risk factor for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in pediatric patients. However, the rate outcomes of AIS patients with CD not explored large population. Our objective is to explore rate, severity, amongst on nationwide level. (2) Methods: The National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database was queried from 2016 2020 principal diagnosis AIS. Patients concurrent (AIS-CD) were compared those without (AIS). Baseline demographics comorbidities, clinical variables hospital complications, rates tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) mechanical thrombectomy between two groups. main studied mortality, discharge disposition, length stay (LOS), total charges. (3) Results: Of 12,755 AIS, 75 (0.6%) had CD. There no differences or mortality AIS-CD more likely receive tPA at an outside within 24 h admission (p < 0.01) undergo (4) Conclusions: made up only 0.6% all No disposition suggests minimal absent role etiology stroke. CD-AIS thrombectomy; studies are needed confirm safety efficacy these interventions

Incidence of lymphoproliferative disorders in patients with celiac disease.

Prior studies describe an increased incidence of lymphoma in celiac disease. However, few studies differentiate among lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs). Our aim was to determine incidences of LPD subtypes in celiac disease patients, describe patterns of celiac disease presentation in patients who develop LPD, and compare survival in patients with various LPD subtypes. We conducted a retrospe...

HLA genotyping in pediatric celiac disease patients.

Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disease in the small intestine triggered by gluten uptake that occurs in genetically susceptible individuals. HLA-DQ2 protein encoded by HLA-DQA1*05 and DQB1*02 alleles is found in 90-95% of CD patients. All of the remaining patients carry HLA-DQ8 protein encoded by HLA-DQA1*03 and DQB1*03:02 alleles. Specific HLA-DQ genotypes define different risk ...
